Superhigh - germanium booster (Rangemaster)
Superhigh, the germanium booster. It's based on the classic Rangemaster circuit utilising super high gain transistors for nasty midrange bite and great dynamics. With strong pickups it's hot enough to become a standalone light overdrive pedal with thick, crunchy breakup and outstanding cleanup with guitar vol knob. Gain knob is a real gain control to let it clean up to almost crystal clean operation even with range knob maxed for wide range boost including fat bass. This pedal will make you superhappy.
This series is very limited in quantity due to low availability of proper spec'd germanium transistors, usually OC43, OC44 or OC141, but occasionally also different models. It's built with oldschool-style layout with choice of high quality NOS parts.
Available unit comes with Valvo OC44 transistor and DC input wired for negative center isolated power supply. This is #39 and it's the very last unit of this series before some layout and tuning changes.
And how is it different than PIG, my another Rangemaster style pedal? Superhigh has noticeably pronounced midrange for extra juicy, vintage vibe (PIG keeps more of the lowest frequencies and overall balanced frequency range), it's built with a higher gain transistors with addition of really efficient gain control knob for extra versatility, finally it's physically bigger and built with more time-consuming layout.
